Modern Contemporary Family Home in a Conservation Area

A tired 1950s house and garden formed the building plot for this property which included mature trees and overgrown shrubs.

The owner of the site wanted to redevelop and build a contemporary property on the site of the 1950s house. The design that followed was bespoke and offered a unique solution to meet the owners needs and his desire for spacious accommodation and plenty of daylight especially to the rear of the property in order to take in views over the large mature garden and beyond.

The site is located in a Conservation Area and is surrounded by Listed Buildings. The site levels also influenced the design. The unique property has dual aspect and three split floor levels to take advantage of the slope of the existing site.

At ground floor level to the rear of the house the glazed wall was designed to fully open onto a terrace and to the garden beyond whilst at first floor level a balcony and similar large windows maximised light and views.
