Arts & Crafts Style House
The new house is in a Conservation Area and there are a number of Listed Arts and Crafts style houses on the Estate which was the style of architecture the owners wanted for their new home
Mike Lapworth was commissioned by IM Properties Ltd and Spitfire Bespoke Homes to help find a solution to give the 23,000 ft.² former Manor house a future. Working with the local Council, Mike Lapworth designed a scheme to provide 13 top end apartments within the existing Manor House which was fully restored as part of the works & eight new houses were built around a courtyard to replace the unsightly residential blocks which were demolished as they compromised the setting of the Listed Manor house.
Mike Lapworth’s design included a new standalone Dower House on the site of the Catering block. The Dower House was designed to reflect the style of the Manor house and was purchased by a private client.
After purchase the design of the Dower House was extensively modified to suit the new owner’s needs and an extra floor of accommodation within the roof with gable windows which reflects the style of the adjacent Manor House.
The separate garage block was also redesigned to incorporate accommodation at first floor level to suit the owner’s needs.
The overall development has won several Design Awards.
